Brief Biography: Feininger was a leading Expressionist painter. He was also a cartoonist for several German, French and American magazines. Feininger was a member of various artistic groups including:  Berliner Sezession, Die Brücke, Novembergruppe, and Gruppe 1919. His work was declared degenerate by the Nazi Party in 1933 and Feininger and his family left German for America.
