Brief Biography: Sammartini was a talented oboist at the S. Celso and Regio Ducal Teatro before moving to London where he was described as the greatest oboist the world had ever known. His career as a composer advanced when he was hired by Frederick, Prince of Wales in 1736. A forward thinking composer Sammartini combined late Baroque and early Classical stylistics in his music.
