Brief Biography: Vivaldi is one of the most popular and widely recorded Baroque composers, second only to JS Bach. His red hair and ordination as a Catholic Priest earned him the nickname il Prete Rosso or the Red Priest. Many of Vivaldi’s compositions were written for a home for orphaned and abandoned children, Ospedale della Pietà.
